Find out why Italy should be your next travel destination.
First and foremost, it is the land famous for its rich history. Through many historical remains you can get familiar with the way of life some 20,000 years ago. The Colosseum, The Roman Forum or The Tower of Pisa are just some of the magnificent places to visit in Italy.
Stunning cities such as Rome, Venice, Florence, Milan and Verona will fascinate you with their beauty, architecture and, of course-delicious food. What a better way to start your mouth-watering Italian meal than with a glass of high quality wine. You can either choose a tasty pizza with some Parmesan cheese, or a fresh pasta with olives or a fish with aromatic herbs. Or, you can have a little bit of everything.
Fountains are pretty interesting to the tourists. Only Rome has 280 fountains to offer. Trevi Fountain is the most visited of all, along with Barcaccia Fountain and Triton Fountain. We have to mention picturesque villages and cliff-side towns with their breathtaking scenery.
The Northern part is famous for the gorgeous lakes. Lake Como, near the Swiss border, is not only popular among the Italians, but also among the celebrities. The Dolomites, a mountain range in this part of the country, is the perfect spot for skiers, hikers and rock climbers.
Italy is known for having two micro states within its territory. Vatican City is the smallest independent state in the world which covers over 100 acres and has about 800 citizens. It is the capital of The Roman Catholic Church, an absolute monarchy with the Pope as its leader. San Marino, on the other hand, has a population of about 32,500 and is situated on the mountaintop in north-central Italy.
Last but not least, this country offers you some of the most beautiful beaches with soft sand and turquoise water. Whether you choose Sicily, Sardinia or Capri Island you won’t regret at all. Somewhere between Malta and Tunisia, south of Sicily there are three deserted islands called the Pelagie Islands. These are small islands of Lampedusa, Linosa and Lampione with gorgeous secluded beaches and spectacular nature.
