Who says animals are incapable of love?!
Sometimes, I think animals have more capacity to love and care for one another than we humans do. They not only have emotions, but they can sense someone else’s sorrow, pain and bad fortune. In the wild there are many unexpected animal friendships. Some pairings are even unthinkable for us, we would never expect to see a baby impala adopted by a cheetah or a lioness. But nothing seems strange in the animal kingdom.
Watching different species hang around like the best buddies is something we are not used to. However, strange life circumstances can make them bond to the extent of being inseparable. Some of them were lost in the wild, or abandoned by their mothers, but were soon orphaned by other animals or people from the animal protection centers. Being in the same enclosure helps them grow into each other very fast. As the time passes by they no longer see the differences between them the way we see it. They start spending a lot of time together, playing, cuddling and enjoying their friendship. They simply become lifelong companions and that’s what matters most.
I hope these heart-melting photos of the unexpected animal friendships will be inspiring for all of you, just like they were for me.
We must never forget what’s the true essence of life – LOVE!!!
1. Nia and Dema
A Sumatran tiger and a baby orangutan were both abandoned by their mothers soon after birth.
2. Kasi and Mtani
The cheetah and the Labrador were raised together at Bush Gardens in the USA. Though Kasi spends more time with other cheetahs now, she never seems to forget her childhood friend Mtani.
3. Bubbles and Bella
Bubbles the elephant and Bella the black lab became friends after Bubbles was rescued from the ivory poachers in Africa. Now they are both in a safari reserve in the USA.
4. Anjana and Tiger Cubs
Two cute tiger cubs adopted by Anjana the Chimpanzee, after the hurricane separated them from their mother. Anjana has been a surrogate mom to many orphaned animals.
5. Bea and Wilma
They are one more example of many unexpected animal friendships in the enclosure. Bea the giraffe and Wilma the ostrich spend a lot of time together playing in the Bush Gardens in the USA.
6. Rabbit and Deer
These two cute creatures are spotted together somewhere in the wild, thanks to animal photographer Tanja Askani.
7. Syria and Roscoe
One day Roscoe decided to follow Syria the orangutan and her handlers home. Soon after that they adapted Roscoe as well, and they have been best friends ever since.
8. Adorable dolphin and a seal
Seems like this will be an everlasting love between these two.
9. Mani and Candy
Mani the wild boar piglet and Candy Jack Russell terrier are two inseparable friends and very important part of one German family. Look how playful and funny they are!
10. Mabel and the Puppies
Mabel the chicken looking after these little puppies and keeping them warm, while their mom is busy out playing.
11. Shere Khan, Baloo and Leo
There is a strong connection between Shere Khan the tiger, Baloo the bear and the lion. They were all rescued from a drug dealer who abused them for a long period of time. They suffered a lot in the past, but now they are the happiest friends you have ever seen.
12. Koko and Kitten
We all know who Koko is, she is a gorilla who knows over 1,000 signs in American sign language. But you probably didn’t know about her fondness for cats.
13. A baby impala with cheetahs
This is probably one of the most unexpected animal friendships. Instead of devouring a little impala, they started playing gently with her.
14. Milo and Bonedigger
Milo the dog and Bonedigger the lion became the best friends after it was discovered that the lion is suffering from a bone disease. It’s been 5 years since then and they are still buddies.
15. A polar bear and a dog
See how a bear does everything to keep his buddy warm and cozy. Amazing!
Hope you enjoyed it!!!
